PAST EVENTS

Saverah Expo

Our wonderful volunteers provided almost 100 free comprehensive health checks, advice and life support training at #SaverahWomenExpo2017. We were fortunate to have a fantastic multidisciplinary team of doctors, pharmacists, a dentist, optometrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatrist, mental health advocate, and brilliant health check assistants! Thank you to you all the volunteers! We received excellent feedback and hope to continue our work to build healthier communities.

Hajj Health outreach clinic

Muslim Doctors Association partnered with the Council of British Hajiis UK to provide free health checks and advice for Hajjis at the London Islamic and Cultural Centre. Dr Ahmad Moolla, MDA Hajj Health Lead, also shared the findings of his research on British Hajjis and the practical implications this has, particularly around avoiding infection, optimising chronic disease management and preventing illness during Hajj. We also identified several unmet health needs which we are working to address with the Council of British Hajjis UK.

Volunteers get together

We enjoyed a lovely day out with our volunteers on Saturday 29th July. Due to the predictably unpredictable British weather we had to change to an indoor location with lunch at Haz Restaurant, St Paul’s, followed by an outing to Spitalfields market for the Halal Street Festival. It was wonderful seeing so many of our volunteers and committee members come together and enjoy a relaxing day out and get to know each-other. As always, we are indebted to all the hard work and commitment of our volunteers without whom our work would not be possible.
