Muslim Doctors Association (MDA)

In the fight against Covid-19, many Muslims on the frontline have sadly lost their lives. In the Qur’an we are reminded that to save one life is as if to save the whole of humanity. These healthcare workers, some of whom had travelled thousands of miles, saved countless lives but lost their own. Approximately 10% of the medical workforce is Muslim, but the proportion of Muslim doctors who have died is significantly higher. In the NHS, Muslims are under-represented in positions of leadership but over-represented in Covid-19 casualties.

The media has sadly not highlighted the contribution of Muslims in this pandemic. In this project we remember, celebrate and pray for the Muslim healthcare workers lost on the front line who served the public in a spirit of generosity, compassion and self-sacrifice. They will always be remembered as our heroes.
